Step By Step
Issuance
1 Registration as Issuer
Customer signs up for Trusted Badges, and through a procedure generates his Private Key and Public Key. Becoming an issuer will allow the customer to sign digital badges that the entire community can verify.
2 Creating a Badge
The issuer can create, within the same platform, a Digital Badge composed of:
- A name and a short description of the badge.
- Detail of the criteria evaluated so that the future recipient receives the badge.
- A representative image.
- Issuer data.
3 Awarding Digital Badges
Issuer build a list of recipients who will receive the digital badges, and using his Private Key he signs them. To the information of the badge are added:
- Recipient data.
- Evidence of knowledge or skills that the recipient demonstrated to have acquired.
- Issuance date.
- Blockchain stamp or TimeStamp Authority (optional).
Digital Badges are stored in Trusted Badges and are emailed to each recipient. Also signed badges can be printed.
Visualization
Digital badges are distributed in a special image format. In addition to the representative image, the file contains the information of the badge, the recipient and the issuer’s signature. These images are distributed by Trusted Badges to recipients via email.
Recipients can store their received badges as files, but they can also collect them in virtual wallets or backpacks. Badge Sash is a solution created by MateDapps for this purpose. It is free for recipients and the general public, and not only allows you to manage the badges generated in Trusted Badges, but also any issued under the OpenBadges standard.
Verification
When a recipient applies for a job or career in an educational institution, people responsible for administration must verify that the digital badge is valid.
Badges issued by Trusted Badges can be verified by following the instructions in the standard OpenBadges.
To simplify this process we developed a Digital Badge Verifier, which will indicate if the information on a badge is correct and if it was really signed by the institution indicated. It is available in Badge Sash, Trusted Badges, and white-label integrations.
